Ghosts Illusion Explained

Could this be the trick they used in the show to pull it off??

Pepper's ghost is an illusionary technique used in theatre and in some magic tricks. Using a plate glass and special lighting techniques, it can make objects seem to appear or disappear, or make one object seem to "morph" into another.

im aware of the peppers ghost effect.

They use that in the Haunted Mansion in the Magic Kingdom in the ballroom scene, most probably used in Ghostbusters

There were Pepper's Ghost tricks for the animatronic figures and an invisible screen for the blasts.

The Pepper's Ghost trick was used for this show. What was interesting, and many people don't know, was the puppets were actually performed on a stage right above the audiences heads. I saw blueprints on how the attraction was built, and it's very interesting how they pulled everything off.
