Ever rode it?
« on: February 23, 2007, 12:48:40 PM »
First time I was at Universal was 1992 so I missed riding the first version of JAWS.  Is there anyone here who can enlighten us how it was?

There are some videos of it on youtube but it doesn't have the boat house.

Here is a link to a video of the ride in 1990. In my opinion the sharks look 100 time better and look more like the sharks from the movie than the ones we have now(which look like refrigerators that thrust out of the water).

Ive seen the video on the tube where the shark blows up at the end, seems it was too difficult to maintain tho. Like the part where the shark grabs the boat and pulls it, that should have stayed with the attraction ;)

ok picture this, u on the ride having fun ,then it breaks down u cant get out, u have no food nor water and its hot outside , so that's why that part of the ride, was taken out due to, technical difficulties and dangerous to guest. yet but anyway, i did get a glimpse of the shark details in jaws in 1990 it was so realistic ,but now its just colorful and bright not scary at all, to the kids it might, but to me im 22 does not look good ,in my opinion.

lol that just reminded me of when i got stuck on test track at Epcot for like an hour in the scorching heat, OUTSIDE! we had so many engineers trying to get us out, our car was completely screwed! Well, they eventually set up a screen to shade us and give us water, so it wasnt that bad, plus we had loadsa fast passes as a 'sorry we ****ed up'  ;D

I have seen a high quality version of the 1990 ride and the shark looks WORSE! Its mouth is immobile, its teeth hop up and down when it moves, it fails in comparison to today's version. To see it, go to this link:
